Natural Paint and a Happy Result!

Today I wanted to share with you my success of latest furniture project! I love plants, and my living room has a gorgeous window that provides the bast light for all my lovely leafy plants. However, my collection is growing and I am running out of space to display them! So my darling lumberjack helped me build a window bench to accommodate all my green babies.

Isn't he a keeper?!

The bench is the perfect size and it actually gives me room for more plants. Perhaps I can finally start my indoor herb garden that I've been itching to try! The best part of this project would definitely be when we finished it off with my new CeCe Caldwell natural paint. I actually won this paint and finishing wax through a contest my local TV station was having. I've had them sitting on my shelf for almost a year now just waiting for the perfect project and low and behold that day has finally come!

I am a really frugal spender and honestly this paint isn't cheap, but if you are looking for a natural chalk paint I would definitely give this one two thumbs up. The paint and wax combined run around $60.
Here are some fun facts about the CeCe Caldwell line of paints:
  • Their eco-friendly mineral paints contain no potentially harmful or toxic ingredients (e.g. nonyl phenol ethoxylats, APEO, formaldehyde, ammonia, ethylene glycol or acrylic co-polymers) so you can feel safe about using them
  • All their products are resourced and made in the USA
  • They create paints, stains, waxes, and aging dusts
At first I was a little hesitant because when we first opened the can it looked like a fresh batch of yogurt! You can chalk that up to the natural clay used in making the paint (see what I did there.. chalk it up.. haha) If super thick paint just isnt your cup of tea you can dilute it with a little water. We chose to brave the pudding mix and it went on incredibly smooth. Another incredible plus is this stuff goes a looong way. We did two coats and probably only used about 3/4 cup of paint. Now if only I had some more things to cover with white chalk paint haha.
Yogurt paint!
Tomorrow we will attach the top of the bench and finish it off with the wax. All in all this was an amazing experience and I absolutely love the way the paint turned out. I stained the top of the bench with a dark walnut stain which compliments the vintage white paint color really well.

Tada!
Hopefully today you have been inspired to do a little creating of your own, and who knows, you might just find a little more contentment in the chaos.
